De International Clarinet Competition Ghent is aan haar vijfde editie toe. Er boden zich iets meer dan tweehonderd internationale kandidaten aan waaruit een internationale jury vijfenzestig effectieve deelnemers koos voor deelname. De jury, voorgezeten door Gunther Broucke, intendant van het Brussels Philharmonic, bestaat uit de absolute top van de klarinetwereld (solisten en pedagogen) en zal de kandidaten in vier ronden beoordelen. De eerste twee verlopen binnenskamers, voor de laatste twee stelt MIRY Concertzaal zijn podium ter beschikking. U, het publiek, bent welkom om mee te komen wikken en wegen. Wie weet inspireert uw applaus de jury tot een extra punt voor uw lieveling. Helemaal alleen staan de solisten er trouwens niet voor. De halve finalisten spelen onder andere met het Zemlinsky String Quartet, de finalisten treden op met het Symfonieorkest Vlaanderen.
The International Clarinet Competition Ghent is ready for its fifth edition. Just over two hundred international candidates presented themselves, from which an international jury chose sixty-five actual participants to compete. The jury, chaired by Gunther Broucke, intendant of the Brussels Philharmonic, consists of the absolute top of the clarinet world (soloists and pedagogues) and will evaluate the candidates in four rounds. The first two rounds will take place indoors, for the last two MIRY will make its stage available. You, the audience, are welcome to join in. Who knows, your applause may inspire the jury to give your darling an extra point. By the way, the soloists are not alone. The semi-finalists will play with the Zemlinsky String Quartet and the finalists will perform with the Symfonieorkest Vlaanderen.
