Op 7 februari 1994 opende SPECTRA in MIRYconcertzaal de toenmalige week van de hedendaagse muziek en begon zo aan haar eerste concertseizoen. Precies 25 jaar later blikt het ensemble terug op een kwarteeuw aan muzikale creaties. Gezellen van het eerste uur en voormalige docenten compositie aan het Gentse conservatorium Lucien Posman en Frank Nuyts laten zich vertegenwoordigen met een koppel oude hits, De Laatste Hooivracht en Fivepenny bits and the seven beats’ itch… respectievelijk. Naast dit vroege werk is er ook aandacht voor enkele hoogtepunten uit het jongste lustrum: Stefano Gervasoni’s Gramigna en Frederik Neyrincks Gestalt VIII. Geheel nieuw werk van huiscomponist Mirek Coutigny vormt de kers op de jubileumtaart.
On 7 February 1994, at the MIRY Concert Hall, SPECTRA opened what was then the Week of Contemporary Music, launching its first concert season. Exactly twenty-five years later, the ensemble looks back over a quarter of a century of musical creations. Participants from the very first hour and former Ghent Conservatory composition teachers Lucien Posman and Frank Nuyts are represented with old hits, respectively De Laatste Hooivracht and Fivepenny Bits and the Seven Beats’ Itch. In addition to this early work, SPECTRA revisits highlights from the last five years, including Stefano Gervasoni’s Gramigna and Frederik Neyrincks Gestalt VIII. Entirely new work by SPECTRA composer Mirek Coutigny is the cherry to top this jubilee celebration cake.
